Our History
The Old School Academy guild
We find our roots in the values and comeraderie of our guild, and as we grow, we branch out but recognize our connection to our common heritage.
The Old School guild was formed more than two years ago by Wookieluv, an intrepid MMO gamer.  He brought to WoW a heritage rich in interactive gaming traditions having first formed a similar guild of the same name during the great days of Star War Galaxies.  With him came a group of other enthusiasts from SWG and other games, and together, they were the first members of The Old School guild on WoW.

It was Wookieluv, as guild master, who set the standards by which we game together in The Old School guild.  Determined to make our guild a place where all people of all ages could join together enthusiastically, Wookieluv developed a code of gamesmanship which we still find in today's rules for the guild.

At the beginning of 2007, Wookieluv could not continue as guild master because of other forces at work in his life.  His love for the guild led him to appoint others to serve in his place because he did not want to see that spirit of fun-loving, fair gamesmanship die out.

Santha, a loyal member of The Old School was asked in February 2007, to take over the position of  Guild Master until Wookieluv would once again be able to resume his duties.  At that time, membership in the guild had dwindled to 67 members, many of whom were not active in the guild.

Over the next few months, with the aid of new members, The Old School grew vigorously.  When the guild had grown to 376 members, from 250 active accounts, the leaders of the guild felt that it was time to reevaluate the needs of the members for challenging growth potential.  The officers met with Wookieluv who had returned to the guild and together formulated an exciting plan:  a new guild would grow out of The Old School and serve the needs of lower level players to be able to maximize growth in skills and levels, and it would be known as The Old School Academy.  The Old School would continue to hone the skills of members who were 60+ levels.

On August 12, 2007, a "Birthing Ceremony" was held in the Cathedral at Storm Wind City.  In presenting him the Mace of Guild Authority, Santha restored Wookieluv to Guild Master of The Old School Guild.  Wookieluv then proclaimed Santha to be Guild Master of a new guild, The Old School Academy, and pledged assistance to and protection of the new guild.

Thus, a new era has begun in the life of The Old School guild and The Old School Academy guild, a heritage that few others can lay claim to in the history of WoW.

In November 2008, with the advent of the Death Knight, The Old School Academy reached over 500 guildies.  In order to make room, a new guild was formed for Twinks only - The Old Twink School.  Alara, a Santha alt, left TOSA  to make a new home for twinks.

Raw Recruit
All members are expected to participate fully in the life of the guild.  If a guildie breaks the rules of the guild by behaving in groups or guild chat in a manner that is destructive to the purpose and harmony of the guild, after reminders from other guildies, an officer may take the extreme measure of demoting that guildie to Raw Recruit.  A Raw Recruit will not be able to speak in guild chat, withdraw items from the guild bank, or go on scheduled activities of the guild until the issues have been resolved.  Hopefully no guildie will ever be a Raw Recruit!
